Story
For the first time, the Girlguiding and Scout Associations of Ditchling,
Hassocks and Hurst are collaborating in support of the South Downs Refugee Project to take part in the “2 Hills, 3 Mills” walk – on Sunday, 22nd May.
We launched this initiative on World Thinking Day, 22 nd February – when globally these groups celebrated the birth days of the founders, Lord and Lady Baden-Powell. In 2022 the theme for World Thinking Day is “Our World, Our Equal Future” – and a time when the organisations locally will think about refugees and the challenges faced by migrants around the world.
The 12.4 mile route will take in 2 hills – Wolstonbury and Ditchling Beacon, and the 3 mills – Oldland, Jack and Jill – and the journey encompasses all 3 villages along the way with various access points along the route for Units to join.
The walk brings the communities together to raise both awareness of the South Downs Refugee Project, and important funds via sponsorship which will be used to create a 'soft landing' for the refugee family.
Girlguiding and Scout Units from Ditchling, Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint will be taking part. Please sponsor our fantastic local young people via this JustGiving page and do what you can to help raise awareness of the South Downs Refugee Project.
