Story
Hello... and welcome to my just giving page!
I’m going to give you a little bit of a backstory about why I am doing this Spinathon!
In September last year my Uncle, Murdo, was diagnosed with with a brain tumour. The tumour was discovered to be growing rapidly and within 2 months it had doubled in size. Given 3 months to live, he underwent an Awake Craniotomy in December that’s right brain surgery whilst awake! The surgeon and his team managed to beat all odds and removed an amazing 90% of the tumour, increasing his life expectancy.
Personally I didn’t know much about the illness but with a little research it surprised me that Brain tumours actually kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… but just 1% of Cancer Research’s national spend is allocated to this illness per year.
So with all of that in mind, on Saturday the 3rd of June I will be fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. To raise awareness and funds for the charity I will be joining the ‘Positive Spin’ taking place at the Dunblane Hydro.
To raise funds for the Charity I’ve decided to sit on a Spin bike for up to 12 hours, the more money donated, the longer I’ll spin for…
£0 to £600 for every £100 = 1 hour of spinning.
After we’ve passed the £600 mark every further £150 raised will = 1 more hour of spinning.
My goal is to raise £1500 which would mean 12 hours on the bike but you’ll know just how much I love PEDALLIN’ but what an unbelievable amount of money would be raised towards an amazing cause.
I’d appreciate whatever amount you can donate and if you are in the area then feel free to come on over, chat and spin along side and if you aren’t, don’t worry you won’t miss out on the action as I’ll be on Facebook and Instagram Live every hour plus posting updates of how I am getting on throughout the day on all my platforms.
Now of course if we go ahead and beat the £1500 then that would be simply awesome, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and please do donate generously.
