I'm lucky to be able to do this half marathon, most of you that know me, will know that I wouldnt run for a bus. But last year on my 50th birthday I had a heart attack, swiftly followed by a quadruple by-pass operation at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The doctor's and nurse's were absolutely brilliant, and spent time and care looking after a frightened man, they helped me not only with repairing the phyical damage but talked to me and held my hand when I went down for the operation.

In gratitude I promised that when fit again I would run a half marathon to raise money for their department (heartcenter) to make their jobs easier and help with the recovery of other patients.
