Fundraising for Wisdom Hospice Charity
Story
Hello and welcome to my fundraising page!
I have chosen the raise money for Wisdom Hospice who are and end of life organisation for cancer patients. They hold a special place in my heart as they cared for my grandmother and a close friend and i could not speak highly enough of their hospice and staff.
As part of the fundraising, i will be completing various challenges for 2016. The main event will be Man Vs Mountain which i am part of a team, you can check the events out in the links provided below.
Saturday 3rd September 2016 ……….Starting in Caenarfon on the coast of North Wales … the first goal is to the summit of The UK's second highest mountain (3560 feet)….. the winding route is approx 15 miles uphill. From the summit we journey down towards the finish at Llanberis…… but before crossing the finish line we encounter
The vertical Kilometer – a race within a race – this brutal climb (yes its not alldownhill to the finish) averages a 25% incline over 1km – the record is 10mins 21 secs !
After that …..
the quarry jump …. yes its jumping into a water filled old quarry from height
the shark cage …. exit from the quarry with a little underwater experience
the slide ….. a nice slide into the chilly lake
pool ‘party’ …. a series of water obstacles
slippery walls …. rope climb up a series of wet walls
obstacle zone ….. a few more obstacles thrown in for good measure
oh and there’s an abseil somewhere on route!
Total Distance = 22 miles, Total Ascent 5055 feet, Average finish time 5hours 55 mins………
