Story

Hi and thanks for considering sponsoring me for the BUPA Edinburgh 10k.

In 1997 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a disease which affects the bowel and colon. There is currently no definitive known cause for UC, and no cure. It also places you in the high risk bracket for colon cancer

One of the many side effects of the steroids I sometimes need to take for this condition is that your weight can balloon. To try and do something about this I started running last January. I've since completed a 5k and two 10k's.

I've recently been told I will have to undertake extensive surgery with the possibility I won't be able to run anymore. No date set for this yet but I've been advised the sooner I consent to this the better.

If this is to be my last run then I want to go out swinging ( well, running............you know what I mean). And if I can keep running well at least you'll have done something nice. Either way I'm chuffed.

I'm not looking for sympathy, but I would like a few quid off you. I am running in  this 10k in aid of the National Assocaition for Colitis and Crohn's Disease  who help to fund research into a possible cure. Last year, as well as actually surviving the course, I raised £453 and I'd love to be able to top that on what could be my last time in shorts( which may not be the worst news you've heard if you've ever seen me lumbering towards you purple faced and breathing out my earhole). I'm also desperate to get a under the hour after doing an hour four and an hour two on my previous attempts.

Please sponsor me if you can, it's a very worthy cause close to me and I would be very grateful. And please leave me a message - nice ones would be especially appreciated

Now the corporate bit - "Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity."

Many thanks

Scott, Jac & Beanie
