Story
St Albans School charity challenge group are fundraising for the Savannah Education Trust throughout this year and we appreciate any donation, no matter the size, which is given to this wonderful cause. See below for more information on the charity.
The Savannah Education Trust builds schools, provides school meals, and trains teachers to allow some of the poorest and most underprivileged children in Ghana to gain an education.
The education is focused both on traditional subjects like literacy, as well as on practical skills like hygiene and farming. Research shows that a primary education has a direct benefit on crop yields in subsistence farming, which could be a lifeline for some of the families who live in the rural parts of Northern Ghana.
The long-run benefits are large too, a good education will increase the likelihood of receiving a better paid job when the child is older which will lift them out of poverty and result in a better standard of living and quality of life. Research also shows that the rate of children surviving childhood and infancy increases dramatically when the mother has received even a basic education. All this means that your donation today may impact lives for the better right now, and for many years to come.
