This will be my fifth year running at Bupa Great Manchester Run to raise money for Manchester Aid to Kosova.
I have seen the work of the charity for many years and I have seen what they have brought for the communities in Kosova but also the impact it has had her in the UK.

I want to help complete the 22 acre Manchester Peace Park in Kosovo to support ongoing recovery from ethnic cleansing and war.

The site is in Podujevë, a municipality of 125,000 people with

80% unemployment.

60% of housing stock was destroyed in the war.

65% of the population is under 25 years.

Survivors of massacres medically evacuated here are central to our planning group and see the Manchester Peace Park in Kosovo as a living symbol of the love and hope received in the UK.

The fully used Manchester Peace Park in Kosovo is now almost complete. Thanks partly to our MAK Runners raising over £15,000 in 5 years, pounding the streets of Manchester, MAK has created:

- A  Peace Garden planted with over a thousand trees and shrubs including living memorials

- Sports and play facilities. MAK also introduced an annual Peace Park Run for the community and elite athletes on site (4th year)

- Partnerships with local schools, Handikos, young ecologists and women’s groups

- Woodland trails with seating and bird-boxes and made locally

- A trim trail for health and fitness

- Art and Music in the Park including local artists and musicians

- The MAK Summer Club. MAK will hold its 7th Summer School on site this summer
