Story
Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I am raising money for Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) as they are a fantastic international development organisation that focuses on four key areas - health, participation and governance, secure livelihoods, and education. Put simply, VSO put people first.
VSO believes that putting people at the heart of development is the only way to make a real difference in the world and that is where I come in! As you may well know, in August I will be heading to Papua New Guinea (PNG) to live for 15 months working on an education programme to help increase children's literacy in rural parts of the country. PNG is quite an unsettled country and as much as it will be an amazing adventure it is also going to pose many challenges and being away from all of the people that I love will be hard. However, I feel that the work that VSO does in developing countries is fundamental to help disadvantaged communities have better lives and to ensure equal opportunities and access to education and health care.
As part of my fundraising for this crazy adventure I will be taking part in the Oxford 50 bike race, in fancy dress, with both my brothers (Thanks Mike and Andrew!) 50 miles is the same distance that a child walks to school every day in PNG so taking on this challenge is the least we can do. I will also be baking cakes, arranging a mass busk, and generally getting everyone on board to raise awareness of this fantastic charity. Making a donation, no matter how small will really make a difference to help support the work that VSO do around the world. So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you :o)
