Story
Some of you will already know that my friend Kris Cook sadly passed away, whilst taking part in last year's Ride 100. He had a cardiac arrest half way through the course at Newlands Corner. Alongside three of my best friends, including his girlfriend Nicola, we are going to complete the course in his memory, whilst raising money and awareness for CRY (Cardiac Arrest in the Young).
We have been in 'proper' training mode since March, going out between two and three times per week for up to 8 hours at a time. There's been a lot of laughter and some tears along the way, but when the going gets tough, we remember why we're doing it.
The course starts in London and then follows a 100 mile route through the capital and into Surrey, before finishing on the Mall. We will be tackling the biggest ascent on route at Leith Hill and then onto the next challenge of Box Hill, before heading to the finish line.
CRY works to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). They not only support young people diagnosed with life threatening cardiac conditions but also provide bereavement support t o families affected by YSCD. Alongside other vital work, your donation will help them to promote and develop heart screening programmes and fund medical research.
Please donate whatever you can to this worthwhile cause and look out for Team KC on the day, we'll be the crazy gang, wearing knee high red and white socks!
Thank you in advance...
