After several years of failing to get a place in the London marathon I have finally been successful in the ballot. I'm not a natural runner but have struggled through the training for this, my third marathon. I'm excited to experience such a huge event, although feeling increasingly anxious as the date approaches.

I am raising money for Intercare, a local charity which collects returned unused prescription medicines and ships them to health centres in poor rural places in Africa. They work with low overheads and do great work, but don't have access to the fund-raising infrastructures of the big charities, so even a small donation makes a massive difference.
