Story
Our daughter, Emily, died from an incurable brain tumour in August 2022. One year on, we want to raise money for the charity that has funded much needed support for us.
The Clinical Psychologists that Tom’s Trust fund in the East of England, work within a multi-disciplinary service at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge called ‘Brainbow’. Children who are being treated for a brain tumour receive psychological support from the day of diagnosis onwards, throughout treatment and after treatment. Their family members are also given the help they need, ensuring all the family are supported during this difficult time. In the case that a family tragically loses their child, the family will receive bereavement support.
The support we have all received since Emily died has been invaluable. We honestly don’t know how we would have even begun to navigate life without Emily without regular professional help. We are raising funds to ensure other families continue to receive this much needed support and to thank Tom’s Trust for their essential work.
Emily loved the outdoors and walking in the Lake District, climbing mountains and splashing in rivers with her brother Harry. In Emily’s memory, the three of us, Sarah, Andy and Harry, will be taking on the mammoth task of walking from St Bees on the West Coast of England to Robin Hood’s Bay on the East Coast in August 2023. This walk will take us 17 days and we will be camping and staying at B&Bs along the way. We will be posting regular updates so please do follow our progress.
