Story
It seems like May is the month that I decide to do something a little bit crazy to raise money for a good cause (see jumping out of a plane for Alzheimer's Society 2017!).
A colleague at work has a nephew who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. When she put out the plea for people to join in a fundraising challenge named "Throw a teacher off a mountain" I was sold.
A group of intrepid teachers from Bruntcliffe Academy will be subjecting ourselves to Velocity... A zip-line in Wales that boasted speeds of 100mph (I'm reliably informed that they've now upgraded it so it will reach 125mph... Happy Days!)
Duchenne is a genetic disorder that affects around 1 in 3,500 male births in the UK. There are around 2,500 people living with the disease. Action Duchenne are currently funding research into Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy to support families dealing with the disease.
