Leila was diagnosed last year, at the age of five with Type 1 Diabetes.  She undergoes daily injections and blood tests and has a very restricted diet. These are all critical measures to control her condition and to basically keep her alive.

Since diagnosis she has had over 1000 insulin injections and over 2000 finger prick (blood) tests. The impact on her daily life has been huge, not to mention the impact on the rest of the family with the care, attention and time that caring for a very young child with this a condition demands.

Leila is so brave, and we are so proud of her courage and determination in dealing with every day.

What we want for her and many others like her is a cure for Type 1 Diabetes so that she can once again enjoy a happy and relaxed childhood.

Leila wanted to do something to help find a cure and we decided that the 2.5k ‘Walk to Cure Diabetes’ was a good idea.
