Story
On the 4th Jan 2017 our lives changed forever.... my very lovely & sweet husband lost his little brother, his best friend, his football buddy and his colleague Ben Schofield.
Ben took his own life and in short we don't know why... he wasn't "sick" he didn't even have a GP.....He had a gorgeous long term girlfriend and lots of fabulous friends. His life was full of family, nieces, nephews, footy and fun... for some reason Ben couldn't carry on.
The Harewood half is muddy hilly and HARD! I've spent the last 4 weeks running, pushing beyond my usual 4/5 miles and adding another 6/7 miles on in the dark, the ice and the wind! ....... it has been my free therapy, I've been angry, I've cried but mostly I've wished I could have just 5 more minutes with Ben to tell him how much we loved him, that we could save him and make him better and nothing is ever so bad.
I've spent hours and hours trying to 'understand' .... I still don't.
The Samaritans receive a call from someone with suicidal feelings every 60 seconds... just £20 allows them to answer 5 calls. They receive no government funding just donations. We can't bring Ben back but if ONE young man or woman can be saved then every mile, every penny and every tear will have been worth it.
Thank you for spending a few minutes reading my story.
