Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So one night a few months ago a friend sent me photos of her day having just climbed Snowdon and I had the crazy thought that "I WANT TO DO THAT"! I messaged my Son and close friends and asked them if they fancied climbing with me. I thought they would all think I had gone
mad but every one of them messaged straight back saying yes! So here we are - myself, my son Matt, Tracy, Julie, Phil, Faye, Jason, Vicky and Dan will be climbing Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) on the 18th May 2019. Its going to take me a long time and it will be the biggest challenge I have ever faced but I know with the support of this lot we will do it!
Heres the reason why I am raising money for this amazing charity:
August 8th 2011 I went to bed in the most horrific pain, I was convinced my life was about to end but felt stupid for feeling that way so decided rather than dial 999 I went to bed thinking at least my family would find me in bed hopefully looking like I had just gone to sleep peacefully. Thankfully I woke the next morning but realised something was definately not right, I had no sensation in my legs and thought I had had a stroke, by the time the GP sent me to hospital I had no sensation from the chest down and still the pain was there but not as intense. I slowly got feeling back in my left leg but nowhere else. A week in hospital and I was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, 7 lesions had formed in the T section of my spine. I spent 18 months hoping the pain would go and the sensation would come back to my body but eventually had to accept this was now my life. So I live with the pain, the lack of sensation and weak right leg that cause me mobility issues most days amongst other issues related to TM. In recent years I have also developed Optic Neuritis that affects my vision. None of us know what the future holds but with the help of my amazing friends and family I have learnt to cope and live again and without the help of the Transverse Myelitis Society supplying knowledge to us all this would have been near impossible.
