Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Each week we will be uploading posts about the number of miles we are getting through. We will tag our post #doitordonateit - if you can't do the same number of miles as us then DONATE IT! We dare you!

About the Alzheimer's Society

The Alzheimer's Society works to provide information and support, fund medical and social research, and campaign for a better quality of life for people with dementia. It also works hard to get a greater understanding of the condition because there is currently no cure.

Dementia describes different brain disorders that trigger a loss of brain function. These conditions are all usually progressive and eventually severe. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, affecting 62 per cent of those diagnosed.

There are 850,000 people currently living with dementia in the UK, with that number set to rise to over 1 million by 2025 and to 2 million by 2051. That is an overwhelming statistic and one that is driving us to take on this challenge.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
