Story
Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As the majority of you will know, I like to challenge myself. Last year, I took the opportunity to push myself way out of my comfort zone and cycle 50 miles in the Divas on Wheels event, run 13.1 miles in the Canterbury half marathon and throw myself out of a perfectly good plane to skydive my way back to earth to raise money for Pilgrims Hospices. As a non cyclist, average 10k non aesthetically pleasing runner and a fearful flyer these events were challenging for me!
I have now been successful in selection and have a place in the Brighton marathon 2018 running for Pilgrims Hospices and will be running with my colleague, Liz Boatman #pilgrimspair ! This is my very first full marathon, which is a daunting and very exciting prospect!
As a member of the clinical team, I see first hand the impact that the Hospice has on patients and families whether at home, in the community or on the inpatient unit.
These services could not be provided without fundraising, as only a small percentage of our funding comes from the government. The challenges that I undertook previously, as well as the time, training and preparation for the upcoming marathon are nothing in comparison to those our patients face, but will enable me to generate donations to help us to continue to support those that need us, when they need us.
Any donation, no matter how small is very gratefully received and really does make a difference. The current total of £479 was raised for last years events, the rest is to be raised in the next few weeks for the upcoming marathon. I cannot thank you enough for all the donations, support and encouragement I have already received, it's what keeps me going when I'm running in the wet, cold and dark! If you prefer, you can also text a donation to me on 70070 using code SJMS78 and the amount you would like to donate, you can even add Giftaid this way. Every penny really does count.
Many thanks for your continued support, as a service we really couldn't do it without you.
Sarah
