Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
They say a society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable. The RSPCA is the oldest animal welfare charity in the world, established in 1824, and whatever else is going on, that says a lot about how British people feel about their animals.
The RSPCA doesn't only rescue and rehabilitate pets but wild animals, too. They push for changes in legislation to protect animals to improve welfare on farms. They go into schools to educate the next generation. This year, the number of reports of abandoned pets has risen by 24%. That's unreal, and it's heartbreaking. Pets give us so much and ask for so little in return. And yet... Organisations like the RSPCA provide them with a chance at a happy ending.
As much as I love animals, I couldn't be an RSPCA officer. I couldn't bear to see first-hand the horrendous things people put animals through - I've dealt with the aftermath with my rescue Brittany, Barney Boo. So, my hat is off to RSPCA workers and all those who work in rescue for doing such a tough and much-needed job I couldn't bring myself to do. So, what I can do is help them by raising money to support their efforts.
The farthest I've ever run is 6 kilometres, so 21 kilometres is pretty scary to contemplate. But this is a fantastic charity, a British institution we can be proud of. I hope you will join me in supporting their ongoing efforts to create a safer, more just world for animals.
