Story
Zoe and I are taking part in Ben Nevis challenge this September, raising money for Alzheimer's Society.
Both of our maternal grandmothers – Marj and Iris - battled with Alzheimer’s which they both lost and I have worked and supported many people and the families of those that have suffered from this ‘robbing’ disease, which steals people’s memories, independence and personalities.
There are many causes of Dementia (the symptoms of Alzheimer's) and in some rare cases it does appear that it is hereditary. With our maternal grandmother's having this disease, this is what worries me and Zoe the most and whenever my Mum gets a little forgetful, I panic inside. It's our worst fear. We've had long conversations about this and this is the main reason we decided to do this and are supporting this great charity; for more research into curing such a terrible disease and to support the families of those that suffer because they need it.
Although we both enjoy walking and being in the great outdoors (especially as we're approaching the big 3-0 and growing up - hehe!), those that know us 'crazy, fun loving gals' know that Zoe and I are more likely to don our heels and glitzy dresses to go 'blitzing' round a dance floor somewhere, attempting to re-live our youth than climb a blinking mountain! This is why we're going to need all the support we can get, so dig deep guys and sponsor us! Make the two day gruelling hike up the UK's highest Mountain worth our while in helping us raise as much money for this most worthwhile cause!!!
Thanks for all your support and taking the time to read our story!
