As many of you will be aware both my mum and dad suffered from dementia for the last few years of their life. My mum, Josie, passed away on the 29th march 2020 and my dad, Bob, on the 2nd April 2021. It has been heartbreaking for us to watch the impact of this cruel disease on both of them. My mum was a social worker, a magistrate, a keen bridge player, a talented seamstress and a dedicated shopper. My dad was an MP, leader of Bolton council and a lecturer. As well as being dedicated to public service they were also loving parents to myself and Michael, inspiring parents in law to rob and proud grandparents to William and Joseph. Dementia robbed them of so much over the last few years but they never stopped being at the centre of a family that loved them.
