I am celebrating my 50th Birthday in July and I wanted to celebrate it by setting myself a challenge and a mile long swim in open water felt like a good challenge to aim for! Before I started training for this the most I have ever swam was a hair-staying-dry-screwkicking 30 lengths of breaststroke and that was in the comfort of a nice and warm indoor swimming pool.
A mile is equivalent to 66 lengths, no stopping, plus it's outside plus and, for me this is the biggest challenge I will have to be seen in public in a wet suit (now that deserves a donation if nothing else does!).
Why have I chosen to support Inspire Suffolk? Because each day, Inspire Suffolk works at the forefront of helping young people overcome challenges onto positive next steps in their lives. Thousands of people have benefited from Inspire Suffolk’s services so far – providing opportunities that they may not otherwise have access to, helping to improve their life chances. Inspire Suffolk works tirelessly to support young people, and with your support, we can do do so much more.
In short they practice what I preach.
So if you have a tenner to spare please support me and Inspire Suffolk.
Thank you everyone xxx
