Story
We can all make a difference to other peoples lives.
Many of you will know of, or had the experience of being bereaved by suicide, the devastating & often life long impact it can have. Prevention has to be the priority, reducing stigma and enabling conversation.
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives.
To help make my 50th a memorable year, I’ve decided to do some fundraising for a charity whose focus is to support those who may be worried about someone, those bereaved by suicide, along side the support they offer to those struggling with suicidal thoughts.
PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
It seems very fitting to me, to be able to take part in fundraising abseil for a charity that provides the support that I feel so passionate about, in my home town, on one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, Liverpool’s Anglican cathedral.
A few years ago now, my graduation ceremony form Liverpool Uni, took place in the Catholic cathedral, at the opposite end of the street from the Anglican - you can see it from the top! All my family were with me on that memorable day ♥️
It’s been a while since I’ve been at the top of the cathedral, the views are stunning - I’ve put some photos in the gallery - this time I’ll come down on the outside and take in the view all the way!
Thank you for reading this, for any donation you are able to make, and for your support ♥️
