On 28 March 2010 my dad, Raymond Louis Cowell died suddenly of hypertensive heart disease. He was a lively and active man whose death came as a huge shock to my family and I.

On 21 January 2011, in an attempt to try to prevent other families going through a similar experience, I will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation by running 42.2km at the Dubai Marathon in Dubai in the UAE.

The British Heart Foundation plays a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation, so that it is no longer a cause of premature death.
