Story
I am doing this cycle ride in memory of my Mother who died when my brother, sisters and I were teenagers and my father ten years earlier, both from strokes. I regularly cycle and run to keep fit and healthy so I will be there for my 6 wonderful children.
As a Landscape Architect I am passionate about improving the canal corridors both in the countryside and in urban areas. It is often the urban areas that can be greened by the addition of the ‘right plant in the right place’ to link up these important waterside corridors for the benefit of wildlife and people.
£5 will buy one of the following; a native shrub, 5 hedging plants, wildflower seeds to cover 10sqm or 20 native bluebells, now an endangered species. Once planted, the flowers, berries and seeds will provide a valuable food source for many bees, butterflies and birds and provide enjoyment for our many visitors.
Being one of those lucky people who have access to a canal, I regularly use the towpath and know the benefit this environment has on ones health and well being.
Corporate sponsors have kindly covered the costs of this trip so every pound you give will be used directly to help the waterways.
Do please be as generous as you can! Thank you!
