Mine and my family's story began in 2004 when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and underwent chemo and radiotherapy which took a good couple of years to recover from. It was hard, but she was incredibly strong and so were the rest of my family. Three years later and everything was returning to normal, or at least we thought it was. In the summer of 2007 Mum started feeling unwell again and after numerous trips to the doctors and several different diagnoses, she was given the news we were all dreading. In October Mum was told she had secondary breast cancer. She started an aggressive course of chemo, but sadly this just made her deteriorate quicker. On 22nd November she passed away in hospital with Dad and I beside her.
Unfortunately my family weren't lucky enough to have the support of Macmillan throughout my Mum's two battles with cancer. However, this doesn't mean that I don't believe in the fantastic work they do for those who need it. By raising money for Macmillan I want to make sure that all families are given the support they deserve when coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis. I know plenty of individuals and families who have been helped by them, so please donate to help them fund the work they do.
Thank you,
Sarah xx
