Story
Hiya Friends, J
Although I am pretty unfit!!!! (shocking I know - but those of you who have seen me recently might not be so shocked!!!!!) ... I am attempting to walk a huge distance of 22.09km (yes, all in one go!!!) to raise money for The Army Benevolent Fund/The Soldiers’ Charity. This very “odd distance” represents 10 metres for each of the 2209 servicemen/women who have been killed or wounded in action in Afghanistan since 2001, (as at 31 December 2011).
As a school community, we are very lucky to have such great links with our friends in the Armed Forces, who regularly support us with helicopter visits, Blues & Royals marching bands, all-school-curry-on-the-field events cooked in field kitchens, fun assault courses & paintballing and, of course, our very own regiment of Army Cadets! :-)
Personally, I just like to look at the muscles when they come to visit us, but that’s just me!!!
We want to help look after them, and thier families, when they need a bit more help than usual.
I’m being totally cheeky (normal behaviour!), and asking my lovely friends if they would like to sponsor me and help our brave boys and girls and their families to get on with their lives after their injuries.
Alternatively, you might like to come for a 13mile hike with me one weekend to help me get into training .... belive me, it's not a pretty sight! It's soooo nice when it stops!
Thanks ever so much Hunnies, you're the best!!!
