London to Paris Tour de France · 21 July 2016 to 25 July 2016 ·
In 2014, when Imogen was six years old, we visited our GP for a simple check-up. This was the beginning of an unbelievable journey which led to the diagnosis of Atrioventricular Septal Defect, Pulmonary Stenosis and Mitral Valve Regurgitation.
This news was as real shock as Imogen appeared perfectly healthy and was always full of beans. Treatment for these congenital heart conditions began in 2015 and Imogen underwent two open heart surgery operations, the latest involving the insertion of a permanent pacemaker.
The operations and medical care Imogen received have saved her life. She has bounced back and is the cheeky, independent and beautiful girl who we love and can watch live a normal and healthy life.
I am usually not a person that would stand up and share something so personal. However, I have so much gratitude for the British Heart Foundation nurses for their reassurance, as well as the support received from the charity and the ongoing research conducted by their medical scientists. It is for these reasons that I’m going to complete the London to Paris Tour de France for the British Heart Foundation.
I have pumped up my tyres, polished my helmet and fastened my stabilisers - please donate whatever you can to help support a fantastic well known charity that continues to conduct pioneering research and help treat heart conditions.
Thank you xx
