Story
For those of you that know me, you will understand that me agreeing to participate in a half marathon is complete & utter madness, as I’m probably one of the most unfit people you could come across! But it’s all for a great cause & I’d like to explain why…
My very good friend Jodie got married last year. It was a wonderful day, but it was very poignant as her husband Mick had recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. They are an incredibly positive family, so rather then sitting back & doing nothing, their aim now is to raise as much awareness & money, to help fight this devastating illness. The whole family are doing their bit– Joe is doing a skydive in July, Tom has signed up for the London to Paris bike ride, and other events/activities are also being organised, such as raffles & a charity night at Henlow Greyhound Stadium. You can follow who’s doing what for this amazing cause, by liking the MND Awareness Large Fundraising Page on Facebook.
When Jodie & I were having one of our girlie catch-ups, she told me what Tom & Joe were doing, and said that she really wanted to do something to raise some money & awareness too. So we were having a bit of a brainstorm & being the bright spark that I am, I suggested looking into signing up for a half marathon… And then, being the plonker that I am, I even agreed to do it with her! So here we are…
A lot of people usually just scroll past posts such as these (I know that I have on plenty of occasions), but please buck the trend & take a few minutes to donate, anything that you can spare would be greatly received – if not for the good cause, then do it for the comedy value of me (and Jodie) attempting to run 13.1 miles! Thanks for taking the time to visit my page… Now dig deep people!!!! J
