Thanks for taking the time to visit Sara & David's JustGiving page.
We have decided to pound the streets of Manchester in the Bupa Great Manchester Run 15th May 2011 giving blood, sweat and tears in aid of Cancer Research as we have both had someone close to us suffer from cancer, some have luckily survived and some sadly didn't.
This is a real challenge for us from start to finish.
The first challenge was/is we have both given up smoking (well it would be hypocritical to smoke and raise money for cancer research!).
The second challenge is the training, which began this weekend (12th March). At the moment Sara is unable to run for more than 60 seconds without stopping - with only 9 weeks to go it will be a challenge for her to finish the whole 10k without stopping and before they re-open the roads for cars - but this is the goal.
David is an experienced runner, having completed the Manchester run 4 times and has set himself the goal of 50-55 mins - hopefully a quicker time than he achieved in the London marathon.
We have both paid our entrance fee ourselves, but thought it would be good to raise some money for a charity close to our hearts as we are putting a lot of time and effort in to completing the run. Plus Sara bought new running shoes (which weren't cheap) after this weekends disasterous training sessions, to take away the excuse that it is the trainers which stop her running for long!! Plus new trainers also needed new matching t-shirts and pants ;-) David is refusing to buy some new running pants or shorts, as he thinks there is nothing wrong with his lily white legs.
We have set ourselves the modest target of £100 - it would be great to smash this, as it is for a good cause.
