Story
Hi, I am Sandra 29 years old in love with fitness and running in particular a wife, a Mom of two gorgeous boys and a Nurse on Day Lewis Ward at Dorset County Hospital.
Ever since I started running I always said before I am 30 I will run a Marathon and if I do it must be the London Marathon. So last year after I watched the London Marathon on TV I tried my luck and joined the ballot, I knew my chances to get in through the ballot were very little but I thought if its meant to be it will happen.
So it got to October loads has happened since I joined the ballot I moved from Germany to the UK and I started my new job on Day Lewis, it got closer to the results day and I have seen that some people have been receiving news from the Marathon so I called up my Mother in law and asked her if she received my Magazin and said it is probably just the magazine saying sorry but I wanted it anyway, little did I know I actually got in, I was in shock and happy and scared at the same time.
I am now halfway in my training and I am not going to lie it is hard work, I felt as if I needed to run for a cause so I got in touch with our Fundraising office at DCH and decided I want to run for my Ward.
Day Lewis ward is a medical ward for elderly People as well as an Older Persons Assessment Unit (OPAU), where patients receive intensive therapy input to facilitate rapid and safe discharge. However their discharges can sometimes be delayed and they stay longer with us than planned.
