Story
Hi Everyone,
Please don't tell my mother this. But in Nov 2016, I will be part of a team attempting to be the first all-women team to cross Iran's remote Lut Desert. We will be transversing near the hottest recorded place on earth, across sand dunes, salt plains and meteorites over 10 days.
By now, nobody will roll their eyes when I tell them my next adventure. But I am undertaking this challenging trek to raise funds and awareness for:
Women for Women International - a dynamic charity that help women survivors affected by war and civil strife to rebuild their lives. They work in countries like Afganistan, Iraq and Congo to turn victims into survivors by providing resources necessary to move beyond crisis and poverty.
Over the past 18 years, they have transformed the lives of 300,000 women, benefiting 1.4 million community members. They are changing entire communities, one woman at a time.
I know how lucky and privileged I am to be able to do this trek simply because I am a woman and I have choices.
I have 9 weeks to get myself shipshape and if you feel that me attempting to walk across a hot and dry desert is worthy of your few dollars then I ask that you dig deep to help me and women around the world! I will be doing a special event every week or so, and I ask that you join me, be it during training or raw cooking and give a small amount in return.
All the funds donated will go straight to WFWI and no amount donated is too small to make a difference.
"Love only grows by sharing. You can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others"
With Gratitude,
Sandra
