Story
Hi thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sam is 16, he has Cerebral Palsy.
In his younger years he achieved so much more physically than we ever dared to hope, with walking, standing & swimming.
Cerebral Palsy effects Sam mostly with muscle control, either being too weak in some areas or too strong in others. This has been a nightmare for his hip development, resulting in 4 major hip reconstruction surgeries. Unfortunately this has left Sam unable to walk in his frame and he finds it uncomfortable to use his standing frame. Also recently we've been told his right hip is moving out of place again and is not reconstructable.
Sam is desperate to stay active, be able to stand and generally keep healthy. With all this in mind we started looking for some sort of aid that he would be able to use for many years. This led us to the Innowalk.
The Innowalk is a device that replicates walking. You start from a seated position then you control the Innowalk to bring you to standing as tall as is comfortable.Your legs move with the machine as iif walking, also there's an option to add handles so arms can move to.
The benefits are increased muscle and bone strength, improved flexibility, cardio fitness, circulation and digestion. Also, crucially Sams continued positive outlook.
The Innowalk is not yet funded by the NHS. The cost will be £25000. We'd love to be able to raise an extra £5000 on top for Sams continued physiotherapy
Thankyou for supporting us
