Story
Inspired by a friends couch to 5k story and progress in April 2021 I completed week 1 run one - this was to help my own physical and emotional health! By some miracle, by July I graduated and was loving running by this point, never believing for a million year I would be able to do it - I hear you say but a marathon the following year!!! Let me tell you why….
I’m on of the specialist advisers for nerve tumours Uk covering the north west - so I see the marvellous work this charity does for and also enabling myself and the other advisers to provide support and without donations they couldn’t do this, massively hit by the pandemic like many charities, autumn was approaching and I thought I need motivation to get threw the winter months and the charity were more than happy to offer me a place
I’m excited and scared, my first half is approaching! I’ve managed 7 miles today and that was tough - but I guess the storm didn’t help, so please get behind me if you can - because this is the biggest challenge of my life so far after the half!!
Funnily enough I walked virtual shine a light marathon in may 2020 pandemic over the month of may the charity did and on my fundraising page I wrote this would be the only way I would ever complete a marathon - hopefully little did I know!!!
I’m determined to do this and those that know me know if Sam sets a challenge she achieves it, looking forward to spring and summer training
I'm supporting Nerve Tumours UK because their mission means a great deal to me. They provide crucial support to people living with the Neurofibromatoses- the conditons that cause nerve tumours. They are dominant genetic conditions, which means that they can be passed on in families from one generation to the next through genetic inheritance. Similarly, about half of nerve tumours cases recorded have no previous family history of the condition. In other words, it can occur totally “out of the blue”.Please help me bolster their support.
