2 years ago my mum was diagnosed with a rare form of Vasculitis called 'Churg Strauss Syndrome'. Vasculitis is a general term for a group of uncommon diseases that feature inflammation of the blood vessels. This causes the body and organs to be deprived of oxygen rich blood.
This caused my mum to suffer many painful and disabling complications including a heart attack. Although lifelong medication is fighting this life threatening condition she has been left with pain and reduced function of her arm and leg (this is due to nerve damage caused by the reduced blood flow) and many undesirable symptoms from the tablets she takes every day.
To help raise awareness of this disease and to support the charity ‘Vasculitis UK’ who work to help and support sufferers, me and Marion are attempting the Ben Nevis Challenge Weekend on the 26th of May 2012. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Britain. The summit reaching 4408ft above sea level.
