Story
Lucy and Sam are walking the Lake District Ultra Challenge on 10th June 2023 in aid of Compassion in World Farming (CIWF), which does amazing work in campaigning and lobbying for animal welfare. It campaigns against the live export of animals, certain methods of livestock slaughter, and all systems of factory farming.
Our walk is 49km (30 miles), starting from Kendal Base Camp, north up the Long Sleddle Valley, and over the testing Garburn Pass, then on to Windermere and Ambleside. It’s then round the west side of Lake Windermere to the finish line.
Please support us in raising £1200 for this important charity, which has succeeded in: banning chicken battery cages in the EU, banning cruel sow stalls in the UK, stopping live export subsidies and getting agreement in the EU that animals are sentient beings who feel pain. There are much fairer ways to farm and CIWF helps to educate people and businesses across Europe, to make a real difference.
Sam is walking in memory of her mum, Goo, who campaigned for CIWF and was passionate about animal welfare.
If all that doesn't float your boat, please just donate to support us anyway! Thank you in advance.
