Story
Last year I had to give up my place in Brighton marathon after getting injured and it has been cancelled this year with lockdown. I have decided to run my own series of runs including a 5k, 10k, 10 miles and 13.1(half marathon) in my garden on the day i had been preparing for which might drive me crazy going round in circles!
You know how much I love ZSL and all of the beautiful animals so I have decided to challenge myself and fundraise to help keep ZSL running throughout the duration of the COVID-19 crisis. ZSL London & Whipsnade Zoos need to get more than 22,000 amazing animals from the majestic lions to the smallest, most colourful frogs fed and cared for throughout the crisis.
The Zookeepers and vets are working night and day to care for them, but we need to help. As a charity, ZSL rely on funds from supporters and visitors. Animal lovers keep them going! The animal residents continue to squawk, prowl, leap, swim and hop thanks to the dedication of the wonderful team of keepers, vets, nurses and nutritionists.
ZSL is one of the UK's leading conservation and wildlife organisations with a near 200 year history, with work in over 60 countries across the world, bringing back endangered species back from the brink of extinction. Wildlife health and human health go hand in hand. With 75% of all new human diseases in recent years including COVID-19, beginning as infections that transfer from animals to human, our work researching and tackling the sources of these diseases is needed now more than ever.
The most important way you can help at this time is to donate. Every gift really does make a big difference to the animals and the dedicated staff caring for them. Your support at this difficult time will help feed and care for our animals and also create a safer world for people and wildlife, enabling us to tackle the wildlife trade, protect endangered species and reduce the risk of the next global pandemic.
Your support means the world to me, thank you so much for being part of this. If you can help in anyway, i would be so grateful. Stay safe, lots of love Sam xxxx
