Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I will be running the 2021 London Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. I'll be running in memory of my nan, Joy, who sadly passed away last year after a long battle with Lewy body dementia. Anyone that knew my nan would tell you that she was an extremely kind, caring, gentle and supportive person, and we are all so thankful to have had her in our lives.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure. Alzheimer's Society provide support for individuals and their families dealing with dementia, as well as funding research into potential ways of slowing and curing the disease. My nan had very loving family and friends around her throughout her battle with dementia, and passed away peacefully and comfortably. Some people don't have that care available to them, and Alzheimer's Society's objective is to ensure that individuals and families affected are offered sufficient support, and do not have to deal with this alone. I am running for my family, friends and everyone else that continues to be affected by all types of dementia; nobody deserves to suffer with this horrible disease.
If you are interested, you can follow my struggle to get in shape on my Strava, linked to my profile. Any donations are very gratefully received, I really appreciate the support.
Thank you, Sam
