Story
In 2019 my friend Vicky got diagnosed with breast cancer. Anyone that knows Vicky won't be surprised at how she took on her treatment. She was positive from the outset that she would beat it and when the pandemic hit, meaning that she had to isolate away from her husband and 3 children for her own safety, she chose to move into her sewing studio in her parents garden and spend the time she had between hospital appointments sewing scrubs for local NHS staff.
She was treated at Mount Vernon cancer centre in Northwood but this facility is under threat of closure so Vicky- who has now thankfully recovered- her sister Natalie and her husband Craig decided to run the Manchester marathon. They have run a number of marathons between the 3 of them and made it sound so much fun that I decided that I would do it with them (a decision I'm now regretting!)
Every donation, no matter the size is very welcome and will hopefully go some small way to help others receive the care Vicky has received from the amazing nurses, doctors and volunteers at Mount Vernon who should never have to live in fear that this place will cease to be.
