Story
If I had £50,000 spare Wesley, I would not hesitate to hand it straight over to you. However due to babies being dreadful at gambling this would be unwise.
With this in mind I’ve decided to use my talent for sitting on a bike saddle for long periods to raise some much needed money to get Wesley walking.
Lots of people seem to be doing organised Land End to John O’Groats charity cycle challenges. However these seem to cost about as much as you raise just to enter. To keep the maximum amount of money going towards its intended purpose I’m going to do the trip solo, carrying everything I need and camping out each night. Fingers crossed for driving rain and headwinds!
To make people keener to part with their money for this amazing cause I decided to make it a little bit harder. So I will throw in walking up the National 3 Peaks on my way up through the United Kingdom. This will take the milage to over 1050 miles. That’s got to be be worth at least £50 more!
So there you go, a way for a loving Uncle to attempt to raise enough money so one day he can take his nephew on a more enjoyable bike ride.
Thanks in advance for any money you donate.
More about Wesley's Wish...
www.wesleyswish.org
Wes was born at 31 weeks and, shortly after birth, suffered damage to the part of his brain that deals with motor control. As a result, he cannot sit, crawl, stand or walk.
There is hope, however, in the form of a pioneering neurosurgical procedure called 'Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy' (SDR). This operation is coupled with a long-term course of specialist physiotherapy. Thousands of children in Wesley's condition have benefitted from these treatments and are now walking, rather than in wheelchairs.
Wesley's Wish exists to raise funds to give Wes this life-changing chance. We're working with Tree of Hope, who are helping us to fundraise: 100% of everything donated will be ringfenced for Wes.
