Story
In June one of my favourite people, Annabel, discovered she had Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma. The amalgamation of this, lockdown, and her continuing fight with Colitis painted a stark and exhausting picture for the rest of her year. But her attitude and approach was frankly awe-inspiring, and I only wish I had half the courage she's shown in the last 6 months. Following an arduous battle, it's wonderful to be safe in the knowledge that she's had her last session of chemo and is on the road to recovery. However, her colitis is a disease she'll have to live with for the rest of her life. This invisible disease causes her chronic stomach pain and exhaustion causing disruption to day to day life. Furthermore the lack of discussion surrounding it and its absence from common knowledge also affects her work life. It felt only right to try and do something by raising awareness for Crohn's and Colitis UK; a wonderful charity that give thousands of people the help and information needed with anything related to these two diseases.
With that said I'm doing the Lake District 3000; a walking challenge my decrepit and neglected body is currently far from capable of finishing. 44 miles covering the 4 highest peaks in the Lake District with over 15,000 feet of climbing, all to be done within a single 24 hour time constraint. I'll be attempting it with Mike; whom I've selfishly enlisted to carry me most of the way when I inevitably crumple into a balling mess 5 minutes in. I fully appreciate times are difficult with regards to financial situations, so absolutely anything donated will be very much appreciated. More so than anything, it's about spreading awareness for a disease that simply isn't talked about enough.
