Story
When lockdown began in 2020, everyone turned to running for some freedom from the house, one of the fittest lads at our Football Club, Dan, became fixated on the idea of a sub-20 minute 5km.
However, despite making light work of this goal and beating me to it as always, after a few months he began to struggle running 1 or 2 km at a time. Knowing this was extremely unusual, Dan went for a consultation with the Doctors, fearing it was COVID. The news was much worse and he was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer.
During his journey he was treated at The Christie, a fantastic specialist hospital in Manchester where he began his fight and as we knew he would, began to recover with their help. They offered great help and support to Dan, his family and friends through the entire journey.
Unfortunately, on the 27th July 2021, after huge strides towards a full recovery and even restarting his passions like football and golf, Dan's condition deteriorated over night and he passed away.
Hopefully, by doing this 10k, I'll not only honour your memory but raise some money for The Christie and help people like you make a full recovery.
Please help me to help others like Dan by donating to this page!
I'll keep you all posted with updates!
Thanks,
Sam
