Story

Im not normally one for new years resolutions but this year I decided mine would be to challenge myself more but wasnt sure how to do so until one afternoon at work an email was sent around which I saw as the perfect opportunity to fulfil this resolution and also my chance to give back to those much less fortunate then myself.

So on the 2nd November I will be trekking the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu in Peru to raise money for Help a Capital Child and Meningitis Research Foundation. Both charities do such amazing work and one in particular is close to my heart.

For me this will be mentally and physically challenging. The main obtascles will be the distance we have to cover and the altitude. I am not the fittest of people so I have been breaking in my walking boots and am following a training regime to prepare me for this adventure. Have I mentioned that I will be camping in wilderness for 4 nights eeeekk?!

If you wish to track my training progress and of course sponser these worthy causes then do so now!! I promise not to use the money for a visit to the chiropodist when im back!! ;-)

Below is information on what these great charities try to acheive ....

Help a Capital Child

Help a Capital Child believes that every child should have a childhood they truly deserve. They do this by funding approximately 400 projects each year that give disadvantaged children in our communities support and opportunity so they can hope for a much brighter future.
This could mean a respite break for young carers, a mentor for a child who does not have a positive role model in their life, a sports programme for children with disabilities or a bereavement service for a child who has lost a sibling or parent

Meningitis Research Foundation

Meningitis and septicaemia are deadly diseases that can kill in hours. Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) funds vital medical research that focuses on the prevention of meningitis and its associated infections, as well as detection and treatment to improve survival rates and outcomes. In addition, MRF promotes education and awareness to reduce death and disability from meningitis and septicaemia and gives support to families affected. Meningitis Research Foundation's vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Thanks for taking the time to look........... wish me luck!
