Story
Children and families are facing starvation in East Africa, caused by drought, rising food prices and ongoing conflict.
Thousands of people are fleeing the worst affected areas in Ethiopia and Somalia, and heading south to Northern Kenya, where The Salvation Army is providing water and other support.
The Salvation Army, which has been working in Kenya since 1921, is using its local knowledge and personnel to provide immediate relief.
Along with many other agencies and government, The Salvation Army has identified needs it can help to meet. Tractors pulling large water tanks will be used to provide clean, safe water to 5,000 people and 2,000 children in the worst affected areas such as Turkana in the dry north of Kenya.
