Story
As with many of you, I always seem to be supporting different requests for charitable donations which has, in my view, assuaged any need I felt to undertake a "challenge" personally. Well, I have avoided this for as long as I possibly can and I have therefore recently signed up for the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for the charity Physcap. This is a 24.5 mile walk/climb in the Yorkshire Dales National Park that takes in the peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. We need to do this within 12 hours (before I can have a well deserved G&T and plate of chips)! As I suspect most of you know, my idea of a nice stroll at the most would usually involve either my credit card taking a bashing in hideously expensive shops, a bar or two, or walking in and out of David Lloyd. It would be fair to say that I am not a keen walker.......
I can't say I am looking forward to it that much and given work commitments and the children being off school, I also won’t be able to do much/ any additional training. You will therefore all be able to laugh at me struggling up each and every Peak and my John Wayne-esque walk the following week!!
Physcap is a Yorkshire based charity run completely by volunteers, dedicated to improving the quality of life for children suffering from severe physical and mental disabilities within the Yorkshire area. They are the last resort for families who may have limited funds to buy specialist or therapeutic equipment for their children to help make their lives a little easier. We are hoping to raise a collective £24,500 for this challenge and I would greatly appreciate it if you could click on the link below and give a donation to help towards the total.
So, for one day only, I will be throwing off my LK Bennett heels and donning a pair of totally unattractive walking boots and, god forbid, an anorak. I am feeling weak with horror at the thought.
I would be grateful for any donations you are able to give to me, knowing that you receive these requests all the time. I attach the link below:
