Story
I lost my brother several years ago to Oesophageal cancer, a very good friend to breast cancer, and I have other family members and friends who have been affected by this devastating disease. Who knows which of those may have been helped by the Cyber Knife?
By the time I do this amazing event, I will be only 11 months having had a total hip replacement so it will definitely feel like a challenge - particularly because I am not normally a cyclist! However, I do like pushing myself and I am really looking forward to what I'm hoping will be an incredible experience. The toughest bit I think will be raising this money - I've already paid £310 to commit, but I still have a fairly eyewatering £4000 to raise before I go! I need all of your help please!!
It is well known that cancer will affect one in every two people during their life, so we need to do everything we can to fight this awful disease. CyberKnife is robotic radiotherapy treatment that is able to treat previously untreatable tumours. Because it can deliver high doses of radiation with sub millimetre accuracy, it access parts of the body that were too difficult with traditional surgery and because it is so accurate it does not damage healthy tissues. It is not suitable for everyone, but everyone that is suitable should have access.
