Story
2013 is a milestone birthday year for me and I have just discovered that I can run!! What better way to celebrate a new and revitalised sense of well being than by raising funds to support a charity that works hard to find a cure and support families in the UK that like ours, has been affected by Alzheimers Disease
Alzheimers affects almost 500,000 people in the UK today - 1 in 14 people over the age of 65 - it can have a devastating impact on families, watching loved ones succomb and 'disappear'. Being there in body but no longer in mind.
Ed (my youngest son) and I are running for Grandma - Margaret Griffiths, who was once a vibrant, fun loving lady with so much energy for life before Alzheimers taking hold of her mind. We owe so much to her for her love and support over the years and this is the very least we can attempt to do for her.
So this is a great personal challenge for me - a novice runner since last summer and a year that I enter a new decade of my life. I really want to do something positive with my new found fitness and health and it's great that Ed, a seasoned runner, has agreed to join me and run with me!! We have enrolled to run both the Beverley 10k (12th May) and then the Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k the following week (19thMay) - so please, if you can spare a few pounds or pence and sponsor us to help us on our way to acheiving our £500 fundraising target - it would mean a great deal to us.
