Story
As you may or may not know I went to India in 2017 and although I had a fantastic time, the plight of street dogs was heartbreaking and I felt helpless seeing sick dogs and tiny puppies roaming the streets with no support. When I came home I tried to find a charity that helped street dogs in Asia and that's when I found Dogstar Foundation, based in Sri Lanka.
Dogstar Foundation was started by Samantha & Mark Green, a London couple, who after being approached to help a dog at a temple (Mango!), decided to devote their lives to charity and moved to Sri Lanka to help many more dogs.
They work with the local communities to provide vet care, food for dogs and also education for the community on dog care. They make a HUGE and effective difference. I ran the London Marathon for them in 2018 and The Twilight Bark Foundation donated a third of our profits to them in 2019, so I'd like to keep that support going in this really difficult year for everyone.
Sri Lanka's economy and tourist industry has been battered, first by the terrorist attack and now by the COVID-19 lockdown. Still, abiding by lockdown rules they manage to go out and feed dogs and provide loving care.
Please help me help them. 20K is a long way for me as I'm starting from scratch again (and I may have been eating far too many biscuits since lockdown started!!)! I'm not a natural runner by a long shot, slow and steady I go. It will take three months to train and I can do this on the roads around my house so not breaking any lockdown rules myself.
Thank-you in advance for any donation you can spare xxx
