Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As a lot of you may know, I work as a hospice at home carer for Dorothy House. I witness every shift the impact we have on those who are coming to the end of their life and the families around them. We give much needed respite care and the chance for families to go back to being a family member not a carer.
I lost my Father and more recently my neighbour to cancer. They are the reason I chose to do what I do. My sister and I helped to care for my Dad. My lovely neighbour was using Dorothy House for the final few months of her life. She spoke so fondly of them and how much they helped her, from counseling and pottery making to her final days in the inpatient unit.
A few weeks before her death, I decided to apply for a job with Dorothy House, all because of her. I was offered the job the day she died. It was the best decision I’ve ever made and feel like I’ve finally found my calling.
When I saw them advertising for Vietnam and the chance to help in a hospice there, I knew I had to go.
Please spare a few pennies to help this remarkable charity, it costs £1000 a day to care for 1 person in the inpatient unit.
