Said's Beirut Marathon page

Beirut Marathon · 9 November 2014 ·
The first 10 km race that I ran
was in 2004, and it was one of the amazing activities I did during my teens.
Ten years after that event, a friend
introduced me to a group organized by Beirut Marathon Association called
#Beirut542, to train for the marathon. At first, I wanted to exercise, run
short distances, and have fun. However, the training programs were unpredictable
and very serious. During the training and the long distances running
every Sunday, I discovered issues more than fun and exercise: I discovered
patience and real endurance, and feeling of real achievement upon crossing the
finish line.
I will be running the 2014 Beirut Marathon
for PACES Charity, an NGO that creates positive change and builds sustainable
and strong communities through sports. Before August 2014, I was a fan of
sports, and now after learning about PACES, I have become huge supporter of
empowerment and education through sports.
The money raised will go to the PACES
core programs that provide Palestinian children an escape from being idle on
the streets, an escape that is fun, healthy, and encourages participation and
excellence in activities that are extremely important to their development.
Any contribution will be greatly appreciated!
