I have chosen to run for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland as I previously worked as a HCA in the Head Injury Unit at the Mineral Hospital, Bath. The work and support the nurses and doctors offered was invaluable to both the patients and their families, many of whom were dealing with life changing injuries and way of life.

Unfortunately, this unit closed down in 2013.

Acquired Brain Injury Ireland provide the same invaluable service to people affected by a brain injury and offer support so that people have access to the information and services required in order to start rebuilding their lives and regain their independence.

Every brain injury is unique and we use individual neuro-rehabilitation plans to help people relearn vital skills after brain injury and to support their families. Our services are nationwide including residential, community and day services. Acquired Brain Injury Ireland is a leading voice on the issue of brain injury. We campaign, educate and advocate for the rights and needs of this hidden group in society. Neuro-rehabilitation deals with the psychological consequences of a brain injury."
